SALT LAKE CITY — Landscaping companies are starting to get into the swing of the season, but it’s still not as busy as it will be in a few months.
Bryce Wade, owner of landscaping company Yard Masters says the nicer weather is when business starts to pick up.
“When the weather gets good like it is right now, the sun come out it stops raining, and the weather permits, it’s like a light switch and everybody’s calling up for services,” he said.
Jeff Mott, owner of Mott’s Landscaping, said people often start big landscaping projects in the summertime.
“May/June time frame are just crazy months, and then typically September/October once school starts again, people will spend a little more time in their yard before winter hits,” Mott said.
One of the trends they are seeing already are xeriscaping projects to get rid of grass and plants that require lots of water.
“That seems to be more the trend,” Wade said.
People are getting rid of their grass for more patio areas.
“A lot of people are tired of their old yard and they’re looking for a place to entertain, a place where they can spend some quality time with family and their friends, [and still] be water wise,” Mott said.
Both business owners say the busiest months for most landscaping companies are May through August, so now is the time to book any projects.
