GLENDALE, Utah — First Lady Jill Biden plans to visit Glendale Middle School when she makes a stop in Utah on Wednesday. The Salt Lake City school district is working on a myriad of details before she arrives

Everything from logistics and security to which students will be available to greet Dr. Biden when she arrives.

Wednesday is an online learning day for students at Glendale, so she won’t see them in their regular classrooms. But there will be some students on hand.

“She’ll get to see some after-school clubs and she’ll get to meet with some of the students who participate in some of those activities,” said Yándary Chatwin, the district’s Communications Director. But there are other complications for those who will greet the First Lady.

“With COVID, we have to make sure that everyone who comes within proximity of her gets COVID tested,” Chatwin told KSL Newsradio.

Glendale Middle School is also next to Mountain View Elementary School and the Glendale Community Center, which includes a daycare, a health clinic and a food pantry, complicating logistics for the Secret Service and local officials planning for the visit.

Dr. Biden will arrive after 1 p.m. Wednesday afternoon. She plans to visit a vaccination clinic at Jordan Park as well as Glendale Middle School.
