SOUTH JORDAN, Utah — The mother at the center of Sunday’s AMBER Alert has been charged with four counts of kidnapping. Each count is a first-degree felony.
According to a probable cause statement from police, the Department of Child and Family Services stated it had serious concerns about Allison Brimhall’s mental health. Brimhall is accused of threatening the lives of her children.
Investigators report Brimhall picked the children up at their father’s house on Dec. 11 sometime between 9:00 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. The father told police he heard his girls talking at about 9 a.m. So, he went back to sleep as he was not feeling well.
A knock at the door by a neighbor woke the father up at 11:45 a.m., and at that point, the children were gone.
On Dec. 12, authorities in San Diego alerted South Jordan police that Allison Brimhall and her daughters were there. Allison Brimhall was taken into custody by San Diego police.
South Jordan officials are asking that Brimhall remain in jail without bond.
