American Fork names Cameron Paul as its new chief of police

AMERICAN FORK, Utah — The city of American Fork named Lt. Cameron Paul as its next police chief on Thursday.

Paul has been serving as interim police chief since September 2021. The former police chief, Darren Falslev, retired last September after 30 years of service.

“I am very humbled by this enormous responsibility,” said Cameron in a press release on his new role as American Fork Chief of Police. “However, I am fully dedicated to fostering an environment where our officers and staff love to come to work every day. I am also extremely committed to ensuring our community members are proud of their police department and their officers. This will come as we continue to establish highly positive and unprecedented community relationships.”

Duties prior to becoming American Fork Chief of Police

Prior to becoming American Fork Chief of Police, Cameron has worked in law enforcement for 14 years, all with American Fork. During his career, Cameron has worked in nearly every facet of police work, including special victims, investigations, SWAT and patrol. 

Cameron has a bachelor’s degree in social and criminal justice. Additionally, he has also earned a master’s degree in public administration. 

“Cameron Paul is a leader in every sense of the word. He is full of integrity and love for the community and those he works with. He is the right person to lead our police department into the future,” said American Fork Mayor Brad Frost in a press release. 

Paul is married with four children. When serving the citizens of American Fork, he enjoys movies, camping, sports, spending time with his family, and riding his motorcycle.
