SALT LAKE CITY — Just when you thought we were finished with last year’s historic snow season, the snow has arrived back in Utah.

Three locations in Utah reported its first snowfall of the season on Monday. Solitude and Snowbird ski resorts along with Bald Mountain Pass in the Uintah Mountains all had its first dusting of the season. The snow comes as a result of the storms that brought heavy rain to much of Utah over the weekend.

The thunderstorms brought cooler-than-usual temperatures to the state. Salt Lake City had a high of only 70 degrees on Monday.

Snow in higher elevations of Utah

The National Weather Service posted a social warning on social media.

“In all seriousness, if you are venturing into the higher terrain, particularly above 10,000 feet be prepared for winter-like conditions,” the post read.

Snowbird reported snow on Hidden Peak. Solitude says Monday was the first time in 118 days since its last snowfall.

Warm up coming this week

The KSL weather forecast shows a warming trend coming to most of the state.

According to the seven-day forecast, Salt Lake City will be climbing back into the 80s by Wednesday. And by Friday, Salt Lake City will be approaching 90 degrees. Outside of a 30% chance of rain on Tuesday, Salt Lake City is expected to remain dry for the remainder of the week.

The seven-day forecast also says St. George will be back into the mid 90s by the end of the week. Southern Utah will also remain dry for the remainder of the week. KSL weather says St. George has a 10% chance of moisture next Sunday.
