SALT LAKE CITY — Does your marriage need a tuneup? Utah Gov. Spencer Cox and first lady Abby Cox are inviting married couples to the virtual date night, Utah Marriage Celebration, on Friday at 6 p.m.

“Being married to Abby is the best thing that has ever happened to me,” Cox said in a video discussing the event. “Being married makes us happy. In fact, a recent University of Chicago study shows that for both men and women, marriage is the most important differentiator of who is happy in America today.”

“Learn how to create a marriage filled with greater connection, fulfillment and fun,” the virtual date night promised.

Find out more about the Marriage Celebration, here. The cost per couple is $15.

The governor said the virtual date night is an inexpensive way to learn about improving your relationship and have fun at the same time.

On a recent episode of D2, Dave and Debbie talked about the lessons of married life. Dave said while dating, he and his wife would dine out, enjoy a movie, or go dancing.

But after marrying, he said, it’s easier to justify staying home and getting caught up in work or raising children.

As a reminder to work on their marriage, he said he plans to take part in a marriage-strengthening workshop with his wife every year.

Debbie said she loved the title of one of the workshops:

“What Are You Doing With Your Cereal Bowl?” Having Patience with and Appreciation for Our Imperfect Partner

Dave said keeping the flame alive is important to a marriage because kids — intentionally or not — “ruin every ounce of romance.” That’s why he pointed out another promising presentation titled Maintaining the Fire: Ideas for Keeping (or Reigniting) Sparks in Your Marriage.

Dave & Dujanovic can be heard weekdays from 9 a.m. to noon. on KSL NewsRadio. Users can find the show on the KSL NewsRadio website and app, as well as Apple Podcasts and Google Play.

We want to hear from you.
