Winter weather returns to Utah

SALT LAKE CITY — More storms are on the way as Thanksgiving travelers return home this weekend. Utah had a taste of winter weather on Turkey Day, but forecasters say the next storm will be even stronger.
While you might be planning to drive home Saturday, you might want to wait another day.
“Sunday is definitely a much better travel day,” says National Weather Forecaster Glen Merrill.
The storm kicks off Friday night in northern parts of the state with heavy rain. Higher elevations, 7,000 ft. or more, will have snow through the evening, and the valleys will briefly see snow Saturday morning. But that’s not all.
“Winds are going to be significant for blowing snow issues if you’re traveling over mountain passes,” Merrill says.
Valley snow is expected Saturday. The significant impacts with this system will be across the *eastern benches* of mainly Davis, Salt Lake and Tooele Counties. Northern Utah County can expected markedly reduced visibilities with the cold front Saturday morning. #utwx pic.twitter.com/XfdeL9SyeM

Colder temperatures are on the horizon as well. The low for Saturday night is only expected to be about 20-degrees.
However, Sunday should be mostly clear.
