TAYLORSVILLE, Utah — Police say they arrested a suspect who reportedly fired shots at officers during a SWAT standoff around 10 p.m. Saturday night, after an hours-long standoff.

It happened near 3500 West and 5500 South in Taylorsville.

Taylorsville SWAT standoff

When law enforcement arrived at the scene of a domestic dispute between a father and his son, they say they found the father wounded and got him safely to a hospital.

According to Unified police, after the son barricaded himself inside the house, they activated a SWAT team. Investigators confirmed that the suspect did fire shots multiple times at the SWAT team. Fortunately, no one was hit.

Law enforcement told neighbors in the Taylorsville neighborhood to shelter in place while the SWAT team dealt with the situation.

SWAT officers safely took the suspect into custody after using negotiation tactics and then resorting to the use of tear gas.

Police did not immediately release the identity of the father and son involved.
