Experts say writing enhances problem-solving and critical thinking skills and can help kids throughout their lives. Teen Author Boot Camp supports literacy and authorship for children and provides opportunities to enhance their skills.
A child with a book is more likely to stay in school, set and achieve goals, enjoy strong family bonds, and go to college. In middle class neighborhoods there’s an average of 13 books per child. In high poverty areas the ratio is one age-appropriate book for every 300 children. Teen Author Boot Camp donates books to Title 1 schools so these students can fall in love with reading and writing.
On March 26th they will hold their annual conference where nearly a thousand aspiring teen writers come to work with bestselling authors to amp up their writing skills. To donate to the Book Drop program or register for the conference visit teenauthorbootcamp.com.
SelectHealth recognizes the learning opportunity provided by Teen Author Boot Camp as another example of how Utah Gives Back.
