WASHINGTON COUNTY, Utah — The Utah Highway Patrol says a 16-year-old teenager died Tuesday morning in a one-vehicle crash in Washington County.
According to a news release from the Utah Department of Public Safety, a 2000 Chevy truck was traveling westbound on SR-159 near milepost 14 when the incident occurred. The release also states that the incident occurred at 5:25 a.m.
The release states: “The driver was passing a vehicle and in the process of moving back to the eastbound lane, lost control of the vehicle.”
The vehicle then crossed both lanes of traffic and into a field on the south side of the highway. The truck overturned and came to a stop roughly 300 feet from the road.
The release states that three of the occupants were not wearing seat belts. The 16-year-old victim was ejected and passed away at the scene.
