Salt Lake City Marathon will cause travel impacts, SLCPD warns

SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Police Department is reminding anyone in the city this weekend to be mindful of travel impacts during the Salt Lake City Marathon on Saturday.
According to an SLCPD press release, anyone living, working, or visiting the capital city will run into “significant and potentially lengthy” road closures due the the marathon. Some roads may be closed for upwards of seven hours.
Most of the road closures start as early as 5:30 a.m. with staggered re-openings as races progress. The marathon finishes at Liberty Park with an ETA of 2 p.m.
The Salt Lake City Marathon is one of six events being held on Saturday. SLCPD said, along with the marathon, the city will host a half-marathon, a bike tour and other short-distance running events.
According to the press release, SLCPD officers will be stationed throughout the route of the marathon to help direct traffic. View a map of the street closures and times here.
