SALT LAKE CITY — Utah lawmakers have more work to do after their latest tax reform meeting.

It was standing room only during Monday night’s Tax Restructuring and Equalization Task Force hearing where lawmakers heard from voters for more than an hour and a half of public comment.

This was supposed to be their last meeting, but they voted to continue working on changes.

The next meeting is scheduled for  December 9th with a special session still appearing likely on December 12th.

The proposal as it currently sits lowers income taxes while increasing sales and other taxes.

The current tax cut is set to be around $80 million for taxpayers but could be boosted to as much as $124 million.
