RICHFIELD, Utah — Some of the evacuees of the Richfield fire will no longer be allowed to stay in the short-term option they’ve been in for the last two nights.

The General Manager of Comfort Inn says they have a “full list of incoming arrivals” for Wednesday.

Fifty-nine residents of Ville 647 — a low-income housing building in Richfield were displaced Monday night after fire crews say the building was a total loss.

The owner of the building says the majority of the 35 people who will not be able to stay in the Comfort Inn have found other accommodations.

Property Manager Jason Best said the 24 people who were not staying at the Comfort Inn have found accommodations for the time. He said many of the residents are staying at Motel 8 right now. And others have asked to help find accommodations more north or south in the state.

Best said the state has offered all of those displaced a 30-day voucher. But he can’t find many options for his tenants to stay in Richfield.

He said the 59 people stayed at the Fairgrounds building the first day. However, now the managers are out of town, so he’s not sure that option will work.

KSL NewsRadio contacted the Red Cross. They said tenants who can’t find any accommodations can always contact them. They said if the state or local government asks for assistance then they can help find emergency shelter.
