Thunderstorms coming to Utah, expected to last all weekend

SALT LAKE CITY — Thunderstorms are expected to move into the Beehive State Saturday and last all weekend long.

With temperatures beginning to cool, Utah’s rivers will get a bit of relief from the heavy snowmelt.

Thunderstorms are likely to be on and off Saturday. However, none of these storms are expected to pack much of a punch.

“We’re not anticipating any of these to, somehow, fall on top of the perfect watershed with snow that’s melting and cause a catastrophe,” KSL Meteorologist Matt Johnson says.

Additionally, Johnson says the storms could add 2-3 inches of snow in the mountains.

Next week, we’ll warm up slightly. However, the chance of storms will stick around for the foreseeable future.
