PARK CITY, Utah — A necropsy performed on 13 cattle found dead near the Rail Trail in Park City, Utah, found the animals likely didn’t die of criminal activity.
But toxicology tests must continue before more is known about the deaths, said Bailee Wulstenhulme with the Utah Department of Agriculture.
The animals were found dead by their owner, a rancher, “last week,” according to Wulstenhulme. The rancher called agriculture officials immediately.
“And we have been investigating ever since,” Wulstenhulme told KSL.
“They are now doing blood tests to see if it was something toxic that they ate or drank … that would have caused their deaths.”
The department’s preliminary testing has eliminated a toxic plant as the cause of death.
The investigation is ongoing.
