One dead in American Fork home explosion

AMERICAN FORK, Utah — One person is dead after a home explosion early this morning in American Fork.
According to American Fork Police Chief Cameron Paul, police responded to a fire at a duplex near 300 East Main Street. They responded at 5:50 a.m.

“We don’t know what caused the explosion. We don’t know hardly anything else at this point other than we were just trying to secure the scene so investigators and fire personnel can get inside to do an investigation,” said Paul.
However, Paul said the home explosion was big and left a lot of debris. There are no significant traffic closures as a result of the explosion.
“There are a lot of resources here. There’s a lot of law enforcement personnel. There’s a lot of fire personnel as well with different specialties that are here to help on the scene,” said Paul.
