“My daughter has been recovering from trauma the past year. She has required therapy and days away from school related to anxiety. Mrs. Braithwaite has been more than accommodating, providing special attention to the little details that have helped my daughter to thrive. She has emailed me each time my daughter missed school. She has set up meetings with myself, her, and the school counselor to brainstorm ways to help my daughter feel safe and comfortable at school. She has also worked with the office staff, the principle, and the other teachers that my daughter rotates classes through, to provide the best learning opportunities without overwhelm.
She continues to remind my daughter what a bright light she is in the class and how much she means to her and the other students. She makes her feel loved and special. She also has helped her to feel “normal” during a time she has felt uncomfortable with herself because of her trauma.
Mrs. Braithwaite has gone so far above and beyond what a teacher should do for a student. She has improved the life of my daughter with a lasting influence that reminds my daughter that she is amazing. Mrs. Braithwaite has truly inspired my daughter to have an amazing life and that she can move past her trauma, that is doesn’t define her. Her influence has been a shining light in the life of our whole family. I attribute my daughters positivity about life and her excitement for the future, to the amazing things Mrs. Braithwaite has done to encourage kindness, friendship, and acceptance in her classroom. She truly has changed my daughters life and I have no doubt she has changed my daughters future.
We will miss her tremendously as my daughter completed 6th grade today and we cried with Mrs. Braithwaite. I cannot imagine a more deserving teacher. Thank you Mrs. Braithwaite you are one in a million and we will never forget you.”
