Man killed in an officer-involved shooting in Roy

ROY, Utah — A man is dead after an officer-involved shooting in Roy Friday.
A news release from the city said Roy City Police officers responded to an armed 39-year-old man threatening suicide with firearms at the Orchard Cove Apartment Complex around 7 p.m. Friday night. The release said they evacuated the building and public areas nearby during the standoff because “the male was presenting a significant threat to the general public and officers on scene.”
Police said officers attempted negotiations for about three hours, but they said the man eventually presented a firearm in a threatening manner and two officers fired their weapons.
The Roy City Police Department confirmed that the man was shot by officers and died on the scene.
The Weber County Attorney’s Office is conducting an investigation into the incident.
